Elementary (K-5)

The Elementary School (Grades K-5)

Holy Family School has a tradition of integrity and excellence which is achieved through a successful balance of the three important components:

  1. Religious values integrated into the curriculum
  2. High quality academic education
  3. A structured, nurturing atmosphere

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten program at Holy Family School is the foundation for making life-long learners out of our youngest students. Each kindergartener has a third grade buddy assigned to them for Mass and other events. Strategic lesson planning and creative teaching methods are the basis of core academic and spiritual fundamentals. Hands-on activities such as music, games, and listening activities enhance the key areas of study which include:

Grades 1 - 4

Students leave behind “wall words” and third grade buddies to build an academic and spiritual foundation rooted in greater independence. Students begin earning letter grades on report cards in the first grade to mark progress. In second grade, students are introduced to study guides and test-taking skills while the religious aspect of this school year is concentrated on making the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Third graders are introduced to note taking and the Accelerated Reader Program while also serving as buddies to the Kindergarten students. Creativity, hands-on activities, cooperative learning, special projects, and field trips are used in combination with academic instruction to make learning interesting and fun.
