Welcome to Early Childhood Programs at Holy Family School!

We, at Holy Family Early Childhood Programs, would like to welcome you. We are confident that your child will receive the best education available. Holy Family Early Childhood Programs are state licensed and follow the Diocese of Youngstown early childhood curriculum.

Early Childhood Programs ClassroomOur preschool students are introduced to the letters of the alphabet and numbers 1-10. They begin to socialize with classmates and participate in fun activities.

In prekindergarten students are introduced to the Saxon Early Learning Program, which focuses on letter sounds and incorporates math, social studies, science, and physical movement skills.

Transitional kindergarten students are introduced to the kindergarten curriculum, including Saxon phonics and Saxon math, at a modified pace.

The home - school connection is strengthened through daily behavior reports, parent broadcasts, monthly newsletters, and calendars.  The Early Childhood Learning Center at St. Luke website provides additional information on activities, announcements and programs.

The Early Childhood Programs are located at 2731 Center Road, Poland, Ohio 44514 and the Early Childhood Director can be reached by calling 330.757.3480 Ext. 20 or by faxing 330.757.7648.

Monday through Friday - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Staff

An Early Childhood Director, a Preschool/PreK Instructor, a Preschool Teaching Assistant, a PreK Teaching Assistant and a Transitional Kindergarten Instructor staff the Early Childhood Programs. Please view the Faculty and Staff page for more information.

  • Preschool: 3-4 year olds
    Tuesday & Thursday
    Morning Session: 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Prekindergarten (PreK): 4-5 year olds
    Monday – Wednesday – Friday
    8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Early Childhood Programs ClassroomThe Early Childhood Programs exists to assist and support each family member to live the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. Together, we enrich the faith dimension, strive for academic excellence, and promote the intellectual and social development of each child as we meet the challenges of a technological and global society.

Philosophy

The Early Childhood Programs will offer each child a well-rounded education with age appropriate activities to prepare them for kindergarten. Through participation in our program, your child will gain an understanding of the basics needed in educational, as well as, religious areas of study to realize their potential as faith filled children of God and their communities.

  1. Be prepared to enter our Pre-K program upon completion of the Preschool program.
  2. Be prepared to enter Kindergarten upon completion of the Pre-K program.
  3. Develop independence and social skills.

  6. Learn to respect others’ rights and protect their own rights.
  7. Understand that they are a child of God and with his love they will continue to grow and learn.
  8. Develop a love for learning that will be carried throughout their school career.
  9. Be introduced to a religious education that will be a basis for their Catholic faith.

Registration Process

The Early Childhood Programs operates in conjunction with Holy Family School. Our programs follow the Holy Family School calendar for all school holidays and teacher in-service days. Our programs are offered to all children, who meet the age requirement by September 30th of the school year they are entering. All children must be completely potty-trained and self-sufficient when using the restroom.

Registration for the upcoming school year begins in January. Perspective students and parents are invited to make an appointment to tour the school and to meet with the Early Childhood staff. Various forms must be completed prior to the beginning of school, as well as, a non-refundable registration fee and a supply fee.

The following forms are required for admission into the Early Childhood Programs as dictated by the Ohio Department of Education. These forms must be turned into the director prior to admission.
